Creosote buildup from wood stoves
Why it happens here
Many Kilbirnie homes rely on wood stoves for heat, and wood smoke produces creosote that condenses inside the flue. Cooler flue temperatures and slow-burning fires make it worse. This is the leading cause of chimney fires.
Our approach
We use a Sooteater rotary brush to scrub the flue walls thoroughly. We also check the stovepipe and baffle. For heavy buildup, we may recommend a chemical creosote sweeping log before sweeping.
