Creosote buildup from older wood stoves
Why it happens here
Many Kingston homes still use wood stoves for heat. Wood stoves produce more creosote than open fireplaces, especially when burning unseasoned wood. The sticky creosote accumulates quickly and is highly flammable.
Our approach
We use chimney brushes and rods to remove creosote from the flue and stovepipe. For heavy, glazed creosote, we may use a creosote sweeping log or chemical treatment. We also check the stove's damper and gaskets.
