Creosote buildup in unlined historic flues
Why it happens here
Most Roseneath villas predate modern flue liners. Bare brick joints catch creosote faster than a smooth liner, and the offset flues common here trap deposits in the bends. Burning wood logs in an unlined flue accelerates the problem.
Our approach
We run an inspection camera first to map the flue, then use flexible chimney rods and a Sooteater to clear the bends. If the buildup is glazed, we break it down with a wire brush and a creosote sweeping log before the final sweep.
