Creosote buildup in undersized flues
Why it happens here
Many Mount Crawford Central villas were built with flues sized for coal, not wood. Burning wood in an undersized flue cools the smoke too quickly, which deposits creosote on the liner. The result is rapid stage 2 and stage 3 buildup and a higher chimney fire risk.
Our approach
We measure the flue with an inspection camera and compare it to your appliance. If it is undersized, we recommend a stainless flue liner sized for wood. We also sweep with the correct chimney brush and schedule a mid-season check if you burn more than two cords.
